First DJ Mister Cee Then Angie Now DJ Cipha Sounds Leaves Hot 97
Popular DJ Cipha Sounds has parted ways with Hot 97.
The station released a statement Tuesday, saying Cipha Sounds, real name Luis Diaz, was no longer with the station.
“Effective immediately, Cipha Sounds is no longer with WQHT Hot 97 FM,” the statement reads. “We wish him well on his future endeavors.”
Cipha had been with the station for 17 years, and addressed the separation on Instagram.
“After 17 years, I’m leaving Hot 97. I¹m changing my relationship status from “it¹s complicated” to “single”. It¹s been an amazing ride – from intern to weekends to morning show host to fill Angie¹s seat in afternoons,” Cipha captioned the photo of a broken Hot 97 logo. “Many years of incredible, life-changing experiences and enough amazing memories to last five lifetimes. The next move is already underway and I promise it’s going to be huge. Follow me at @ciphasounds.”
It is unclear what sparked Cipha to leave the station.
Last year, the “Voice of New York” Angie Martinez resigned from Hot 97 and went to the station’s competitor, Power 105. 1.
Additionally, DJ Mister Cee left the station for an undisclosed reason.
