Rapper Nelly arrested for felony drug possession in Tennessee
Rapper Nelly was arrested in Tennessee Saturday morning and charged with felony drug possession after his bus was pulled over.
The hip-hop star’s bus was stopped around 9:20 a.m. for not displaying the correct identification stickers required in Tennessee when the arresting officer noticed a strong smell of marijuana, KTVI reported.
Upon search, officers found a plastic bag containing what looked like five colored crystallized rocks that tested positive for methamphetamine, the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security said.
Troopers also found a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and several handguns.
Nelly, 40, who’s real name is Cornell Haynes, was taken into custody alongside 44-year-old Brian Jones, who was charged for illegal possession of a handgun. Four other passengers on the bus were not charged.
Nelly’s bond was set at $10,000. The bus is believed to have been traveling to his hometown of St. Louis.
