Donald Trump supporter punches woman in argument over politics at Brooklyn restaurant Bar Tabac
A crazed Donald Trump supporter clocked a woman eating dinner in a Brooklyn restaurant following an argument over the election, witnesses said.
The cowardly brute had finished eating at Bar Tabac in Boerum Hill with his wife around 6:50 p.m. Saturday when he reentered the eatery and punched the woman, manager Jonas Leon, 27, told the Daily News.
“The guy was with his wife. Both of them were very aggressive,” Leon said.
“The guy came back in the restaurant, he was really mad — almost running to the lady. I was trying to catch him but he punched the girl.”
The suspect’s beef had been brewing for much of the meal, according to Leon. The man and his wife had asked staff at the French restaurant in Boerum Hill to move the 49-year-old victim and her friend after they’d overheard them talking about the election.
Instead, staff moved the suspect and his companion, giving them some food and drinks on the house.
“They were saying ‘we're really mad. Really angry,’” Leon recalled.
“In the end I moved the couple. They finished eating, but they were still arguing.”
The couple left in a rage, and then the suspect barged back in. Leon failed to catch up to him before he punched the victim.
“All of a sudden, I hear gasps and a ruckus,” said Jennifer Love, who was in the restaurant where steak frites costs $26.
“Everyone is just standing there frozen. And someone says ‘he punched her.’”
Love said she spoke with the victim and her friend in the aftermath of the attack.
“The two women were discussing Trump and the man got angry,” Love recalled.
The manager said he tried to no avail to keep the suspect occupied until the police arrived.
“I tried to keep him to let the cops catch him, but he was really aggressive with me — he said he could kill her,” Leon said.
A police spokesman confirmed that a woman was punched, but did not say that the dispute was over politics. The suspect was described as a 5-foot-6.
The victim declined a trip to the hospital and instead stayed at the restaurant with her friend for much of the night, Leon said. She had no visible injuries, police said.
“We took care of them. We gave them another dish,” he said.
“Every customer was so nice. Our customers are like a big family.”
Still, he feared this wouldn’t be the last heated argument over politics at the restaurant.
“I think it's going to be more and more frequent, this kind of situation,” Leon said.
