Tupac Rock Hall Of Fame Induction: Snoop Dogg, T.I., YG, Alicia Keys Perform Tribute Set (VIDEOS)
Last night (April 7), 2pac was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This officially made Pac the first solo hip hop artist to receive this achievement. Snoop Dogg did the honors of inducting the late MC, who died almost 21 years ago. The old friend/collaborator of Pac said a moving speech about him that made people listening further understand why he rightfully deserved the honor. Uncle Snoop said: "So, while we may be here to celebrate one of music's most prolific and outspoken artists as he's rightfully enshrined as one of the greatest musicians to ever do it, I'm here to make sure that Pac is remembered the way he would have wanted to be: a strong black man who stood up. Not somebody who acted like a rapper, but as a human."He added: "That's what made Tupac an amazing actor on the big screen in movies like, 'Above the Rim' and 'Juice.' That's what made him so engaged with everything he ever did. Both before and after his death. That's what made Tupac the greatest rapper of all time." Snoop even shocked everyone when he admitted that Pac was the person who gave him his first blunt! After this amazing speech, the tribute set started and man was it official. T.I., YG, Alicia Keys, Treach, and Snoop all came together to perform some of Pac's biggest records. They honored the deceased rapper by performing their best renditions of songs like “I Get Around,” “Dear Mama,” “Changes,” “Gangsta S**t,” “Hail Mary,” “Keep Ya Head Up,” and more. During her performance, Keys briefly spoke about the influence Pac on her even though she never met him. “One of my favorite things about Pac, you know every lyric that he ever sang, it came exactly from his life, exactly from his heart,” she declared. “He was so raw and so real and so honest. And even though I never met him—I wish I did—I learned so much from him. All those stories, and all that realness. All that honesty. I took that with me.”Shoutout to the rose that grew from the concrete and into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.Watch some of music's biggest names come together and assist in 2pac's induction into the Rock and Rock Hall Of Hame below.
